Oy

There are few things more disappointing than having an experimental plan that you're motivated and ready to get done, getting into lab early to get rolling on it, and then to find that supplies you need from the common stock are completely depleted. Grrr.

The lesson you should learn from this is to *never* assume that anything at all that relies on the good will of someone else is going to happen, and to check on this kind of shit ahead of time. Hoarding your own stocks of common shit is also a reasonable response.

An excellent point, PhysioProf. Generally I do check prior to planning an experiment-this particular one I was planning at home and/or on my way to work. Fortunately I came up with a backup plan (i.e. another experiment that needed to be done anyway, for which I had all the supplies, and thus got bumped up the queue) rather quickly.
